The art of persuasive speech in presentations

Persuasive speech is important to strengthen a view point of the audience or induce a new opinion in them. Mastering this art is crucial in presentations be it a speech or marketing presentation slides.

  1. Connection to the audience: You need to get direct connection with the audience.
  2. Set the story: Build your story and its outcome steadily.
  3. Pick up the purpose of each part: Each part of the plot has a purpose and  you need to identify them.
  4. Conflict: Create conflicting factors that needs a solution or a positive outcome.
  5. Prepare for the big day: Knowing your speech in and out thoroughly gives you an upper hand against the critical audience(most audience are!)
  6. Give priceless freebies: Though it sounds desperate giving away free tips is vital. Audience always want to get something out of presentations. This could be a tip, an advice, a pamphlet, a card, a story or any memory that is priceless and rare.
  7. Explain vital parts: Go back to your story and narrate important things or twists or the focus of each parts clearly to make sure that they understood these crucial key points..
  8. Avoid a desperate tone: Never sound or include words that spell out desperation, audience are not foolish to not notice the ‘pity’ and once they get it they will avoid you like plague. Therefore, to put it down simply, do not encourage yourself to sound, look or feel desperate!
  9. Avoid manipulation: This is as dangerous as the previous one, and be wary of it whenever you feel you have reached a point of pure evil. Audience like natural tones or amiable tones not plotting or passive or clever tactical ones.
  10. Identify the outcome of the presentation: You need to know the result or finale of the presentation accurately since that should be the pivotal aspect of the meeting – ‘What is the result?’
